After the U.S. President Donald Trump expressed his ambition to make Greenland part of the United States, numerous Serbian-language profiles on \"Platform X\" drew parallels to the Kosovo issue. These comparisons were given visibility by several Serbian media outlets known for their opposition to Kosovo\u2019s statehood and for promoting the narrative that \"the West forcibly took Kosovo from Serbia.\"<\/p>\n

On January 9, 2025, the Serbian outlet \"Blic.rs\"<\/a> published an article titled \"THE FUTURE IN GREENLAND.\" Serbian Twitter had been \"on fire\" for several days following Trump\u2019s threat to take the world\u2019s largest island from Denmark: \"Wherever I go, I WILL RETURN TO GREENLAND AGAIN.\" The article pointed out that \"the fact that America led Western efforts to establish Kosovo and M, Serbia\u2019s southern province, as an independent state for nearly three decades reminded many X users that Denmark could face a similar fate to our country\u2019s current situation.\"<\/p>\n

In addition, Blic.rs featured various posts from \"X,\" including satirical comments about Trump\u2019s claim to integrate Greenland into the U.S.<\/p>\n

The article also included a statement by Dusan Milenkovic, a political analyst, who remarked: \u201cThe complete cognitive spectacle of Serbian Twitter regarding Trump\u2019s ambition to take Greenland is this: due to decades of national frustration that Kosovo was stolen from us, primarily by the Americans, Serbian Twitter is suggesting that the same Americans will once again steal territory from someone, this time from the Danes\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

On January 7, 2025, Donald Trump Jr. visited<\/a> Greenland following renewed declarations by his father, U.S. President Donald Trump, about his ambition to take control of the Danish autonomous territory. During a press conference, Trump<\/a> refused to rule out the use of military or economic pressure to acquire the territory from Denmark, a U.S. ally. \u201cWe need Greenland for national security purposes,\u201d Trump stated, further threatening to impose<\/a> tariffs on Denmark if the island is not handed over. Marking his son\u2019s visit to Greenland, Trump wrote on social media<\/a>: \u201cThis is a deal that must happen.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Danish Prime Minister, Mette Frederiksen<\/a>, responded to Trump\u2019s statements, emphasizing that Greenland is not for sale.<\/p>\n

Grenlanda<\/a>, located between the United States and Europe, is the world\u2019s largest island, a former Danish colony, and now an autonomous territory of Denmark. Ulrik Pram Gad<\/a>, a senior researcher at the Danish Institute for International Studies, noted that the island has long been regarded as a key to U.S. security, particularly for countering a potential attack from Russia.<\/p>\n
