Despite institutional efforts for integration this region remains fragmented and exposed to external influences, especially in the digital era of uncontrolled information.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Telegram, due to its anonymity, lack of moderation, and encrypted communication, has become one of the most widely used tools by disinformation actors. It serves as a breeding ground for nationalist narratives, anti-Western rhetoric, and messages that incite ethnic hatred and violence.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Serbian and Russian channels have increased their activity in recent years, turning their attention toward Kosovo, especially during periods of tension and alongside the war in Ukraine. According to the analyzed data, over half a million users follow pro-Serbian and pro-Russian Telegram channels targeting the Western Balkans, including Kosovo. Among the most influential channels in Kosovo are: \u201cBUNT Je Stanje Duha\u201d (Rebellion is a State of Mind), \u201cKoridor\u201d, \u201cBunker\u201d, \u201cSlovenski Medved\u201d (Slovenian Bear), and \u201cSrpska Sparta\u201d (Serbian Sparta).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These channels are not merely alternative news sources but strategic instruments of disinformation and radicalization. They spread synchronized anti-NATO and anti-EU content aimed at undermining the legitimacy of Kosovo\u2019s statehood and promoting a sense of Serbian historical victimhood. They also frequently identify and threaten Serbs cooperating with Kosovo institutions, labeling them as <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201ctraitors\u201d.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>Lynching and direct calls for violence\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A concrete example of these campaigns is the \u201cKoridor\u201d channel, which operates in north of Kosovo and incites coordinated attacks against individuals, institutions particularly security ones, and initiatives promoting interethnic cooperation.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With over 10,000 followers, \u201cKoridor\u201d distributes images and messages with clearly threatening content. The channel promotes Serbian nationalist content, evident from posts in the Serbian language and narratives focused on Kosovo.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One post displays an armed Kosovo police officer with the caption: <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cHow I wish I could fire every bullet at the target<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sbunker.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/unnamed.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-12903 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/sbunker.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/unnamed.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"360\" height=\"468\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sbunker.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/unnamed.jpg 486w, https:\/\/sbunker.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/unnamed-231x300.jpg 231w, https:\/\/sbunker.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/unnamed-9x12.jpg 9w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 360px) 100vw, 360px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Threatening post against the Kosovo police officer\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This direct incitement to violence was widely shared and received thousands of reactions, many supportive.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The narrative of this channel is built on strong nationalist elements, often referencing Radio Television of Serbia <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rts.rs\/sr.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(RTS)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, known for its propagandistic stance against Kosovo.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The comments are a toxic mix of nationalism, hate speech, and open calls for violence.\nKosovo Serbs working for the police are labeled as traitors, dehumanized, and threatened with brutal murder.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One comment labels the officer as <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a traitor<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cnot a real Serb\u201d,<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> accusing him of working for Kosovo institutions.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\" translation-block\">Other comments make dangerous historical references <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hrw.org\/reports\/1996\/Croatia.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">(e.g., Operation Storm) <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201d to express a desire for revenge or future violence.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The use of the term \u201cKosovo (region)\u201d instead of simply \u201cKosovo\u201d aligns with the Serbian refusal to recognize Kosovo's statehood.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Given the historical tensions between Kosovo police and Serbian nationalist groups especially in the past three years such posts fuel radicalization and potential violence. Framing the police as a shooting target is dangerous, as they are the first responders in operations against illegal activities.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A comment such as: \u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">D\u017eukela, nije to Srbin<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That dog is not Serb<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) dehumanizes the officer, implying that serving in Kosovo's police strips him of his Serbian identity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Another threatening comment: \u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Na dana\u0161nji dan u ovoj teroristi\u010dkoj uniformi i sa hrvatskom pu\u0161kom<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On this day, in that terrorist uniform and with a Croatian rifle<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) labels the Kosovo Police as \u201cterrorists\u201d and links them to Croatian armament, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sbunker.org\/en\/disinfo\/vuciqi-pa-fakte-implikon-agjencite-e-lajmeve-nga-kosova-e-kroacia-si-nxitese-te-protestave-ne-serbi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">portraying<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Croatia as an <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sbunker.org\/en\/disinfo\/mediat-serbe-spekulojne-se-fsk-ja-u-trajnua-ne-kroaci-per-ta-sulmuar-serbine\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ally<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of Kosovo against Serbia.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some commenters directly threaten to kill the officer.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A comment such as: \u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Voleo Bih da mu mu kundakom Lobanju smrvim<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I\u2019d love to crush his skull with a rifle butt<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">), revealing a desire for brutal execution.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The campaign against Kosovo police intensified after November 2022, when Serbs <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.evropaelire.org\/a\/lista-serbe-largimi-institucionet-e-kosoves-\/32116327.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">resigned<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from the Kosovo Police. Groups with thousands of members labeled other Serb recruits joining the police as traitors. The\u201cBunker\u201d Telegram channel <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sbunker.org\/en\/disinfo\/lincime-dhe-kercenime-kunder-policeve-te-rinj-serbe-ne-veri\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">published<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> photos and personal data of officers from Leposaviq, Zvecan, and North Mitrovica.\nIn addition to revealing personal information, the channel criticized international organizations and foreign diplomats in Kosovo for calling to end the lynching campaign against Serbs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In other cases, photos of ordinary citizens are posted accusing them of collaborating with Kosovo authorities, encouraging Telegram users to vent hatred against \u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">traitors<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d and \u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">alleged collaborators of Kosovo institutions\u201d<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sbunker.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/unnamed1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-12904 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/sbunker.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/unnamed1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"361\" height=\"550\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sbunker.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/unnamed1.png 532w, https:\/\/sbunker.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/unnamed1-197x300.png 197w, https:\/\/sbunker.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/unnamed1-8x12.png 8w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 361px) 100vw, 361px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Foto e qytetarit serb i cili akuzohet p\u00ebr \u201ctradhti\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a post-dated March 2025, it was claimed that a Serbian citizen informed the Kosovo Police about alternative smuggling routes from Serbia and passed the information to Kosovo Special Police Units.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The route allegedly connects to Serbian territory. The implication is that the citizen helped Kosovo authorities block illegal routes used by criminal groups.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kosovo authorities say these routes are used for illegal smuggling, paramilitary movements, and other activities challenging Kosovo\u2019s sovereignty.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cAnother traitor added to the list!\u201d<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> the post concludes implying that such a list of \u201ctraitors\u201d exists, monitored by Telegram channels and potentially leading to physical attacks. Historically, such messages have been used to justify violence or social exclusion of Serbs cooperating with Kosovo institutions that Serbia does not recognize.\nSerbian nationalist groups on Telegram view cooperation with Kosovo authorities as betrayal, as they still consider Kosovo a part of Serbia.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This demonization of local collaborators is part of a strategy to intimidate the Serb community in the north and hinder any form of integration into Kosovo institutions. The accompanying comments testify to extreme rhetoric, with threats of violence, murder, and references to \u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">new purges<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Prodao se \u0160iptarima<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8221; (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He sold out to the Albanians<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">), &#8220;<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sme\u0107e \u0161pijunsko, seme ti se zatrlo<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">!&#8221; (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sme\u0107e \u0161pijunsko, seme ti se zatrlo!\u201d (Spy trash, may your entire lineage be wiped out!), \u201cNa kojoj si granici izrode, sa kime se grani\u010di\u0161?\u201d (What border are you on, traitor? Who are your neighbors?) \"<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 are examples of such comments.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some of them are directly call for murder: \u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cBi\u0107e likvidacije uskoro...\u201d (There will be a liquidation soon...), \u201cA knife at night. If not him, then his mother, father, and the others<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201c, - a threat to the entire family.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some comments reinforce Serbian Orthodox nationalism, claiming that betraying Serbia equates to abandoning the Orthodox faith.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>BUNT \u2013 The center of the propaganda ecosystem\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Another highly influential channel is \u201c<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/t.me\/buntcg\/43376\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">BUNT Je Stanje Duha<\/span><\/i><\/a><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d slogans<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, led by <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/tgstat.com\/channel\/@SrbijaRusija\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dejan Beri\u0107<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a Serbian volunteer in the Russian army.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was created in 2020, initially under the name \u201cBunt Montenegro\u201d, before later rebranding to \u201cBUNT je Stanje Duha\u201d. This suggests its origins and initial focus were tied to Montenegro, targeting the pro-Serb Montenegrin audience, before broadening its messaging.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The number of new members increased significantly after the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Based on public discussions within the channel, a few user-generated posts included \u201c+381\u201d (Serbia) and \u201c+382\u201d (Montenegro) country codes.  This indicates that the administrative base and primary contributors are not operating from Kosovo, despite the channel frequently focusing on Kosovo-related topics.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With over 110,000 followers and an average of 100 posts per day, \u201cBUNT\u201d serves as the central hub for narrative coordination among pro-Russian and pro-Serbian channels. Its content is supported and amplified by channels targeting north of Kosovo such as \u201cKorridor,\u201d \u201cBunker,\u201d \u201cSrpski Vestnik,\u201d and \u201cIstok Info,\u201d which act as megaphones for BUNT\u2019s messages.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sbunker.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/unnamed2.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-12905 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/sbunker.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/unnamed2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"384\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sbunker.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/unnamed2.png 984w, https:\/\/sbunker.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/unnamed2-300x192.png 300w, https:\/\/sbunker.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/unnamed2-768x492.png 768w, https:\/\/sbunker.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/unnamed2-18x12.png 18w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cBUNT\u201d at the center of the disinformation ecosystem (Source: <\/span><\/i><a href=\"https:\/\/tgstat.com\/channel\/@buntcg\/stat\/posts-chart\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">TGStat<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">)\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/tgstat.com\/channel\/@buntcg\/stat\/posts-chart\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">TGStat<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> data, in March 2025 alone, \u201cBUNT\u201d was cited 367 times across 57 different channels, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/tgstat.com\/channel\/@buntcg\/stat\/members-attraction\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">reaching<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> a monthly audience of over 745,000 followers.\nThis reflects not only its popularity but also its capacity to influence and spread disinformation in a coordinated manner throughout the region.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These channels operate on a cyclical model that reinforces narratives. It has significant cross-border appeal, tapping into Serbian communities abroad. The content from \u201cBUNT je Stanje Duha\u201d is frequently shared by some Facebook and Instagram profiles based in Kosovo, particularly those operating in the northern municipalities. The rapid coordinated pattern suggests a central messaging strategy, likely managed by the same or closely connected groups.<\/p>\n<p class=\" translation-block\">The Re\u00e7ak massacre is one of the events where false narratives appear annually on Telegram channels. In a \u201cSrpski Vestnik\u201d post on January 15, 2025, the massacre is denied, and international actors who raised the alarm about it in 1999 are blamed. The message presents NATO\u2019s intervention as illegal, claiming that the Re\u00e7ak massacre was a <\/span><i><span>\u201cfabricated pretext\u201d <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">for the bombings.\nIt is also falsely claimed that the former head of the OSCE Mission, William Walker, \u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">prepared the pretext<\/span><\/i><span SPIRITUAL STATE,<\/span><\/i><span>\u201d reads the channel's <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/t.me\/SLOVENSKIMEDVED\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">description<\/span><\/a><span>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cBUNT\u201d frequently republishes content from the channel \u201cBunker\u201d created in March 2023, focusing on developments in the north of Kosovo.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In its attempt to push anti-Western narratives using religious sentiment, this channel spreads disinformation and manipulates photos from various places, presenting them as if they occurred in Serbia during the NATO bombing campaign.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The These narratives <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/ex-sbunker.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">incite<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> anger and dissatisfaction, reinforcing extremist far-right sentiments and increasing the risk of violence.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In this uncontrolled informational ecosystem where there is no moderation whatsoever, nationalist and pro-Russian actors operate freely, using hate speech, calls for violence, and public shaming as tools of hybrid warfare.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\" translation-block\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This was also the case following the recent <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/DrArtaneRizvanolli\/posts\/993247539676687?__cft__0=AZVsW1w6kOGw_R3DK5uOQx4g824Q29k4CjHzRsR-M_mctq19rOKSy4xOK0a7kyvuueOKSA7nCZ0tV1_qip7mi_2bUHWtkCkUKcEUkEBqDYc1LiUIbuVEZiykG6AaEyM5YCYYY35ns_4IKDVkHPFk0QnozY4sMh6ivu6XVXfuTw-k5A&amp;__tn__=OP-R\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">wave<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> of actions by Kosovo authorities to take control of several public enterprises and other institutions that had, until now, operated under the Belgrade system.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Serbian List and senior Belgrade officials reacted immediately, calling it yet another attempt at institutional cleansing of Serbs. These messages were amplified in Serbian-language Telegram groups.
