Like the rest of the world, the Western Balkans have been heavily influenced by conspiracy theories, with the pandemic raising doubts about government policies and citizens’ trust in institutions. The scale and intensity of these theories and their implications are extremely strong. Covid-19 conspiracy theories are supported by approximately ¼ to 1/3 of the population, while more than 75% of surveyed citizens in the Western Balkans believe in one or more of the six conspiracy theories about Covid-19.
